If you are new to Foothill College,
Welcome image Student Walking on Campus

Here are some things that you need to consider to get started:

Do this first!
Have you filled out an application form to the college?
This is the first thing you should do. There is no obligation to you by completing this free form. This gets you on our college database so that when you schedule to meet with a counselor, take placement tests or attempt to get your classes the college has your basic student information on our computer system. Go to the application page and follow the steps to apply: http://www.foothill.edu/reg/stepschk.html

Student and CounselorQuestions or problems about applying?
If it is a quick question just post the question in the Advising forum: http://www.foothillglobalaccess.org/main/advising_center.htm and someone will usually get back within 24 hours. If you prefer to speak with someone call the Admissions and Records office at (650) 949-7325.

  1. Have you met with a counselor?
Once you have completed an application and have been given a Student ID number, you may schedule a 30 minute counseling appointment online at:
    http://fhcounseling.foothill.edu/esars/counseling/eSARS.asp
It can be a telephone appointment, but if you can come to Foothill or the Middlefield campus we would really like to meet you personally and discuss getting started with your college/career plans and how we can help. Students generally leave that first meeting with a plan and they learn about some of the terms we use like assessment, register, add, educational plan, transfer, etc. The counselor will tell you about the college orientation course Counseling 50 - Introduction to College. In that 12 hour class you will get to learn and discuss a number of things that will help you settle into college life.

  2. Have you taken assessment tests?
Like most colleges we generally require all new college students to take math and English placement tests. If you are not sure if you need to take the tests meet with a counselor to discuss. The weblink for the tests is: http://www.foothill.edu/placement/  and you can schedule an appointment to take the test.

  3. Questions About Applying to the College?
If you have any problems or questions about applying, please see a counselor. If it is a quick question just post the question in the Advising forum: http://www.foothillglobalaccess.org/main/advising_center.htm

  4. Are you wondering about,
What classes should I take?  Definitely see a counselor
When can I register to get my classes? Your registration date will be given to you  after you apply and get your pin number. Your pin number is used when you register to get your classes
What if I have to change my classes? You can do this online https://registration.fhda.edu/prod/web/default.jsp but if you are having any problem check in with a counselor or go directly to the Admission and Records Office in the new student services building 8100 or at the Middlefield campus Administration I building.
How do I get some financial help? Stop by the Financial Aid office on either the Foothill or Middlefield campus.
